Good leader have many qualities. They have strong communication skills, but are also very good listeners. They are able to give direction and are willing to put in their own hard work. Strong leaders are effective, efficient and loyal. One of the most important characteristics of good leaders is that they are open minded.

Approachable

  • An open-minded leader is often someone who is very approachable. Her team feels comfortable enough with her to bring forward suggestions and new ideas. The open-minded leader's approachability stems from his being a very good listener; people feel comfortable approaching him because they know that their voices will be heard and their opinions will be taken seriously.

Team Player

  • An open minded leader is a team player. She realizes that her team is just as important to the project as she is, and therefore is more likely to involve all members of the team in the decision-making process. He takes responsibility for the suggestions of his team, but is also the first to give credit where credit is due when one of his teammate's ideas is a success.

Unselfish

  • An open-minded leader is someone who is extremely unselfish. Sometimes, leaders who are selfish do not like to listen to the ideas of others because they believe that their ideas are best. Open-minded leaders are completely unselfish and willing to let someone else stand in the spotlight. They are open to the suggestions of others and do not always assume that they know best.

Flexible

  • An open-minded leader is flexible and extremely adaptable to change. Sometimes during a difficult project, things change and the unexpected happens. When that is the case, it is important to have a leader who is flexible and willing to make the changes necessary instead of stubbornly adhering to the original plan. An open-minded leader is also not afraid to try many different ideas suggested by his teammates before settling on the one that will work best for the project.
