While most birthday parties for younger kids take place during daytime hours, many adults with busy schedules like to host parties at night. Childrens' parties are sometimes held at night due to scheduling reasons or just by preference. Night time parties can take on a spin all their own. There are many themes to consider when planning a celebration for an adult's or child's birthday in the evening hours. Does this Spark an idea?

Glow in the Dark Party
-
Blacken the windows of your party venue and host a fun "Glow in the Dark" party. Use neon paint to write special messages on black paper that is hung on the walls. Don't forget to use a lot of white in your decor as well, including white streamers and balloons. Encourage guests to wear white or neon colored clothing and give each child a glow stick or two. Place black lights around the room to create a cool effect and to add enough light for safe movement. Turn on the music and let the party begin. Be sure to have plenty of flashlights on hand in case some of the young guests are not comfortable navigating in the darkened room.
Jazz Club Theme Party
-
A sophisticated night time party is a Jazz Club theme. Turn your birthday party venue into a classy jazz club. Clear all furniture out of the room and minimize the art and decor. Use LED candles in small votive lights and bring in some fake plants with white Christmas lights. Set-up small two person tables with dark linen table cloths. Use maroons and golds and dark earth tones to decorate and serve fancy bread and cheese as an appetizer or have a local restaurant cater a main course. Find a local jazz ensemble to perform at the party or play your favorite jazz CDs.

Star Gazing Party
-
A night under the stars can be a good birthday theme for a party taking place at night. Decorate the party venue with lots of cardboard stars covered in glitter. Use glow-in-the-dark stars, white Christmas lights and black fabric as decorations. Serve a stars-themed cake outside under the real stars. Provide a few telescopes so guests can star gaze.
Camping Party
-
Gather a group of friends together for an informal night of camping in the great outdoors. Be prepared for weather conditions and don't forget to bring smore's ingredients for cooking on the campfire. Ask a musical friend to bring a guitar and be sure to know several campfire songs to keep guests entertained in the late night hours. Bring candles for a camping-themed birthday cake and some simple decorations that won't blow away and are easily packed or discarded.
