Wedding Party Dance Ideas
If you want to make your wedding party something that both you and the guests would always remember, try creative dance ideas. Besides conventional wedding dances such as the first dance of the couple or the bride's father's dance, introduce other dances as well to keep your guests entertained. Such dance ideas would allow all the guests to participate more actively and contribute to make your wedding a memorable event.

Snowball Dance
-
The snowball dance involves participation from all the guests at the party. After the newlyweds' first dance, they run out and grab another couple from among the guests -- for instance, the best man and his partner. When the DJ pauses for a few seconds during the song, the couples on the dance floor run towards the guests and grab another two couples. This continues until all the guests at the wedding are on the dance floor. For the snowball dance, upbeat music makes it more fun and exciting.
Money Dance
-
The original concept of "money dance" was to raise some extra cash for the wedding couple's honeymoon. The dance gives an opportunity to each guest to dance separately with the bride and the groom. The dance is initiated by the married couple, the maid of honor and the best man. After a few minutes, the female guests at the party try to get a chance to have a personal dance with the groom, while the male guests try to get the bride to dance with them. Whoever wishes to have a dance with the bride or the groom has to give some money first, which is collected by either the maid of honor or the best man. Each personal dance lasts around 30 seconds. The money dance gives the newlywed couple an opportunity to entertain each guest separately. The money dance can also be introduced as the first dance of the evening.

Married Couples Dance
-
The "married couples dance," also known as the "anniversary dance," allows all the married couples at the gathering to come on the dance floor, while the newlywed couple relaxes for some time. Typically the music choice for this dance is slow and romantic. The dance allows married couples to refresh the memories of their own wedding receptions. The best man or the maid of honor calls all the married couples to come on the floor except the bride and the groom. After a few minutes, the host asks the recently married couples to leave the dance floor -- for instance, couples married five years are asked to sit down. After another few minutes, the host asks the ten-years married couples to leave the floor. The routine continues until the couple married longest remains on the dance floor, which then receives a special gift by the newlywed couple.
Chicken Dance
-
As the name suggests, "chicken dance" involves participation of the shy guests who hesitate to step on the dance floor. If the majority of the guests at your party have been sitting around and you wish to get them all on the floor, the chicken dance will be a good idea. Before the reception begins, write random numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on small pieces of masking tape and affix them under each chair. When the chicken dance starts, the DJ announces a particular random number and the guests look under their chairs. Whoever's chair has the particular number on it has to go to the dance floor. The DJ continues announcing numbers until there is a good number of guests at the floor.
