A favorite traditional bedroom style is American colonial. Characterized by its heavy wood construction, the furniture ensemble includes a four-poster bed, nightstands, dressers and armoires, all constructed from oak. The thickness of oak allows for the intricate, detailed carvings on drawer fronts, headboards and turned leg designs.The heaviness of this bedroom style continues into the heavy dark colors used in the bedding and drapery.
