Drawing Unicorns

Drawing a unicorn can excite the imagination. There are many different ways to draw a unicorn since different societies view the unicorn in unique ways. The modern version of the unicorn, a horse with a single horn, is just one of many variations on the classic theme. For instance, the Chinese unicorn is called ch'i-lin and has been described as having the body of a deer, the tail of a cow and the hoofs of a horse. The Japanese unicorn is more like a bull with a single horn and is said to strike fear into the heart of the guilty. These ideas can be used to create different unicorn drawings that can be colored and painted and used to create a story or comic.

Creating a unicorn doesn't just have to be about drawing. There are many activities that use paper and other materials to craft models. One such activity is the art of paper-craft, which lets you create a 3-D model of a unicorn from a paper template. Finding paper-craft on the internet is as easy as typing "Unicorn Paper-craft" into a search engine. Sites like Macula and DLTK's Crafts for Kids have printable templates that can be folded and taped or glued to create the final model. Other types of crafting include making a unicorn out of play dough; using a toilet paper roll for the body of a unicorn and drawings for the head and feet; and crafting a 3-D model using papier-mache.
