Drama Queen Costume Ideas

You too can look like a drama queen.

Merriam Webster defines the term "drama queen" as "a person given to often excessively emotional performances or reactions." You've probably met someone who fits this description. Dressing up as a drama queen, for Halloween or for a party, allows the drama queen within you to come out, if only for an evening. A few ideas can help you become your own inner drama queen.

  1. Makeup

    • Apply foundation and concealer first. Next, define your eyebrows with an eyeliner pencil that's close to the color of your hair. Draw the eyebrows clearly. Next, apply fake eyelashes just above your own eyelashes. Follow the instructions that come with them, and make sure they're secure. Next, apply mascara as usual. This helps the fake eyelashes look more like your own. Lastly, use shades of pink on your cheeks, eyes, and lips. Using shiny and glittery products works best when creating this look.

    Hair

    • Style your hair like a drama queen by using hairspray and a curling iron. Tie up the hair on the crown of your head to work on the bottom layer first. Spray the hair with hairspray before curling to ensure the curls stay in your hair. After creating the curls, spray them again to set the hair. The curls should look like large corkscrews. Let the top layers down and curl them in the same way. Your hair should bounce and shine like a true drama queen's.

    Nails

    • Paint your nails, or have someone give you a manicure. Choose either French tips or any shade of pink for your nails. You could even add nail stickers for added effect. Paint your toes to match your nails.

    Wardrobe

    • Wear pink and sparkles for your costume. Find a pink dress, or a pink skirt with a glittery top. Add tights and heels to the look. You can also add rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, making sure they all sparkle as well. Carry a small sparkled purse with you in which to carry your makeup. Top off your look with a bright tiara to show the world you are a queen.

    Attitude

    • The costume isn't complete without your acting skills, so act like the drama queen you are. Complain about your heels hurting your feet. Go crazy when you see a cute dog on the street. Overreact to everything. That's what drama queens do.
