Baby showers are a time for the mommy-to-be to gather with her friends and family to celebrate the upcoming birth of her child. Traditionally, baby showers are an all-female event but you're free, of course, to invite whoever you want. Female-Oriented Event

Most baby showers are traditionally female-oriented events bubbling over with pink and baby-blue decor and lots of very girly games that are generally not considered interesting by men. If you're hosting this kind of shower, male guests might not enjoy it and their disinterest could spoil the fun for the ladies.
Father-To-Be

It's not unusual for the father-to-be to make an appearance at the end of an all-female baby shower, presenting his wife with a small gift such as a bouquet of flowers. The father-to-be can also show up toward the end of the event to help his wife open up baby shower gifts. For other fathers-to-be, the time their wives spend at a baby shower is a time they choose to get together with their guy friends to watch or play sports or any other activity they enjoy.

The hostess and the mommy-to-be can also opt for a couples baby shower, which is ideal if you're friends with other young couples who have or may be thinking about having children. Modify games for the couples to play as teams and opt for games that are not ultra-girly; some ideas include themed bingo, name-the-baby and baby trivia.

Obviously, there are no hard-and-fast rules on this subject. The guest list is a personal decision between the expectant mother and the host. Regardless of who you invite, ensure that you have adequate and suitable space for the guests, as well as food and games that will make everyone feel comfortable, included and well-entertained.
