The Best WonderSwan Games

Bandai, a toy and video game development company, introduced the WonderSwan handheld video game console to the Japanese market in 1999. Since then, the company has released numerous versions of the system, adding features such as color support and a larger display screen. The line of WonderSwan consoles, which Bandai has discontinued, supported various game genres, including action, role-playing and puzzle.

  1. Role Playing Genre

    • Many of WonderSwan's role-playing games draw inspiration from anime series. For example, "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shito Ikusei," "Card Captor Sakura: Sakura to Fushigi na Clow Card" and "Digimon Adventure: Cathode Tamer" allow players to assume the anime characters. "Final Fantasy I" is a role-playing game that appeared in bundle packs with the WonderSwan Color.

    Puzzle Genre

    • WonderSwan features puzzle games to appease players who enjoy strategic game play. For example, ""Kaze no Klonoa: Moonlight Museum" is a platform game that requires players to engage puzzle elements as they play through the stages. " Puzzle Bobble," "Slither Link" and "Mingle Magnet" are several other members of the WonderSwan puzzle game collection.

    Action Genre

    • Players looking for fast-paced challenges can enjoy action genre games on WonderSwan. In "Buffers Evolution," players guide robotic animals through mazes, collecting items and racing to set a record time on the clock. In the game "Ganso Jajamaru-kun," players control a globetrotting ninja who is on a quest to save a princess. The game is a remake of a Nintendo title. Other action genre games include "Crazy Climber" and "Rainbow Islands: Putty's Party."

    Sports Genre

    • Released in 2000, "Fire Pro Wrestling" allows players to take control of a wrestler and toss opponents around the ring. Racing fans can enjoy "Final Lap 2000" and "Bakusou Dekotora Densetsu," high speed games for the Bandai console. "Nice On" may appeal to golf players and "Soccer Yarou! Challenge the World" is for the soccer fans. "Wonder Stadium" and "Moero! Pro Yakyuu Rookies" are baseball simulation games.
