There are many ointments similar to Tiger Balm.

Tiger Balm is a brand of herbal ointments and creams used by many people to relieve joint aches and pains as well as headaches and cold. It originated in China and is now distributed all around the world. The brand has a variety of products of which the main ingredients are camphor, clove, cajuput oil and menthol. There are many similar products in the market that contain some of these ingredients that also aim to relieve aches, pains and discomforts.

  1. China Gel

    • China Gel is an herbal topical ointment that aims to relieve various ailments such as knee pain, back pain, foot pain, gout, arthritis, headaches and various sports injuries. The main ingredients in Tiger Balm which are menthol and camphor, which are also in China Gel's formulation, as well as ginseng, angelica, lavender oil, witch hazel and aloe vera. The gel was developed by chiropractor Dr. Paul M. Tullio, D.C. and is manufactured in the United States.

    Watkin's

    • Watkin's is a company that prides itself as a pioneer in America of natural living and wellness products. All its products stay free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates and other chemicals that may be harmful to your health. For pain relief, they have the Red Liniment, Pain Relieving Liniment Spray, White Cream Liniment and Deep Muscle Cooling Gel. For cough and colds, they have the Menthol-Camphor Vapor Rub, Menthol-Camphor Ointment, Menthol Rub, Menthol-Camphor Relief Spray and Menthol Lavender Drops. The main ingredients in these products are the same ingredients found in the Tiger Balm formulation, which are camphor and menthol.

    Dragon Balm

    • Dragon Balm is manufactured by Welsh Dragon Herbal, a company in Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales. It claims to use only the purest natural ingredients with beeswax being the only ingredient derived from animals. Dragon Balm is an ointment that aims to relieve pains and discomfort associated with muscle and joint pains. Like Tiger Balm, it is formulated with cajaput oil and camphor. It is made with a petroleum jelly base mixed with different essential oils and comes in a 30 gram amber glass jar.

    Vicks Vaporub

    • Vicks Vaporub has been a part of American culture for decades and is the number one selling brand for children's cough and cold relief as reported by the Nielsen Food, Drug, Mass Respiratory Market for the 12 months ending May 10, 2010. It can be used on children ages two years and older. The product's goal is similar to Tiger Balm in that it aims to relieve aches and discomforts associated with cold and cough through the main ingredients which are camphor and menthol.
