Internet Marketing Tools & Strategies
Given the rapid growth of the Internet and competition, simply building a website does not guarantee success. Effective marketers use a set of strategies and related tools to drive more traffic to their websites and increase sales.
-
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising
-
A pay-per-click advertising network displays an advertising message (that you created) on a search engine results page or on one or more websites. With pay-per-click advertising, you do not pay for an advertisement until a web surfer clicks on it.
One tool available for planning a pay-per-click program is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. The tool helps you decide for what keyword searches you want to have your advertisement displayed. The tool approximates, according to the keyword chosen by the user, the number of views a pay-per-click ad would receive if assigned to that keyword.
Article Marketing
-
Article marketing involves creating and placing your content on other websites, such as article directories, for the purpose of promoting your website. A link to your website appears within each article. When a reader is interested in learning more information, he clicks on the link to your site and goes there. An article syndication tool can quickly place content on multiple sites. After the user sets up user names and passwords, the software automatically logs in to the site and submits articles.

RSS Syndication
-
RSS (Real Simple Syndication) provides a method to distribute and publish updated content on multiple web properties. The distributed content is only a summary of the entire content. If a reader wants to read all of the content, he simply clicks on the summary and is taken to the content source to read all of it. The RSS feed updates as content gets added. Websites can select directory entries to place RSS feeds and related information on their site.
Warning
-
Realize that tools should be used only to support distribution of quality content. Consistently creating quality content needs to be an integral and important part of how you market on the Internet.
