Ideas for Place Cards on a Wedding Table
When your guests enter your reception, their first thought will be, "How beautiful!" Their second thought will be, "Now where am I supposed to sit?" Make simple table assignment cards with each guest's name and table number, then place them in alphabetical order on a table just inside your reception doors. Once guests find their table, greet them with personal and creative place cards.

Snacks
-
Greet each guest with a treat by making place cards out of jars. Collect empty jars from friends and family, then peel off the labels and wash them. Print stickers with each guest's name, then place a sticker in the middle of each jar. Arrange five or six herb and cheese bread sticks in each jar. If you're planning a casual wedding, fill the jars with licorice strips or wrapped chocolate candies. Place a jar in the center of each plate.
Picture Frames
-
Picture frame place cards allow you to celebrate some of your favorite memories as a couple. Buy a small silver frame for each guest, or buy plain wooden frames and glue on ribbon or bead trim. Choose a selection of your favorite photos of the two of you, then make copies so you have a photo for each frame. Place a photo inside each frame, then tuck in a slip of paper with a guest's name. Close the frames and stand them up in front of each plate.

Plants
-
Potted plants can do triple duty on your wedding table. These plants direct guests where to sit, but they also act as centerpieces and guests can take them home as favors. Paint small terracotta pots with your wedding colors.Or, leave them plain and tie colored ribbon around the rim of each pot. Plant herbs in each pot, then print each guest's name onto a small card. Tuck the cards into the leaves of the plant, or attach them to small skewers and plunge the skewers into the soil. Cluster the plants at the top of each place setting, near the center of the table.
Luggage Tags
-
Luggage tags are fitting place cards if you're an adventurous couple that loves travel. Buy leather or plastic luggage tags. You'll need tags that don't have a cover over the name and address card. Tuck a card in each tag with a guest's name, then hang the loop of the tag over the back of that guest's chair. If your reception chairs don't have a place to hang the tags, place them on the table.
