Fun Ways to Make Money in the Summer
Work doesn't have to be dull, hard or tedious. In fact, whether you enjoy working with kids or carrying clubs around a golf course, you can find a variety of fun jobs in the summer to earn extra cash.

Camp Counselor
-
If you like spending time with kids, you can find work in the summer as a camp counselor. Ranging from day camps to church camps to sports camps to overnight camps, they'll provide you with many opportunities to make an impact on young lives while earning some extra cash. As a camp counselor, your duties will vary depending on the type of camp, but you can bet on a lot of running around, playing games, singing and dancing, making crafts, and teaching life lessons to young people. You'll also find some free time to meet and mingle with other counselors your own age as a perk of the job.
Private Clubs/Resorts
-
With over 1.8 million jobs nationwide reported in 2008 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some of the most popular seasonal work can be found in the hospitality industry. Not all jobs are fun in the hospitality industry. In fact, some jobs can be tiring and messy, such as housekeeping, kitchen work and waiting tables. However, there are many jobs to be had at resorts that involve a good time. Caddying, for example, can get you out on the golf course and you can earn extra cash from tips. You can spend a whole day in the sun by the pool as a lifeguard, and as a valet you can have fun driving around expensive cars with your buddies. You'll have to choose wisely but there are lots of fun jobs averaging between $7 and $12 to be had at a resort or private club in the summer.

Movie Theaters
-
OK, so maybe mopping down sticky theater floors after a kids' movie ends is not your idea of fun, but landing a job at the local multiplex can be a fun way to earn some extra money in the summer. Not only do you get paid to work with your friends or people your own age, but you also get to work inside, where it's air conditioned and, for many theater employees, you get the added benefit of watching movies for free or at a deep discount.
Amusement Parks
-
Each spring, amusement parks across the nationwide look to populate their arcades, game booths, food stands, and rides with seasonal workers. According to the BLS, more than 151,000 workers were employed in 2008 with over half between the ages of 16 and 34. The average median salary was about $8 per hour in 2008, but the work is relatively easy and you'll have loads of fun interacting with park goers and your fellow workers.
