Budget Prom Themes
Proms are a defining moment in many young people's life. Coming up with the perfect prom theme idea does not have to be complicated or expensive. Many shops and party stores, both brick and mortar and online, offer supplies for prom theme ideas. Companies are sometimes willing to donate items for proms as they can take donations off of taxes at the end of the year. With a bit of planning and creativity, budget prom decorating can be easy. Tropical Theme

Decorate your prom with a tropical theme. Plastic prom trees can be purchased cheaply online. Local floral shops may be able to provide silk palm trees. Check with your local plant nursery to ask if they would lend or lease palm trees for a prom. Colors should be bright and reminiscent of a beach. Great colors might include orange, pink, bright green or orange. Tropical themed banners spruce up bare walls of the prom venue. Keep colors bright.
Mardi Gras Theme

Include lots of beads for the Mardi Gras prom theme. These can be purchased at a party supply store or online. Many people have friends or relatives that attend Mardi Gras events. Ask in advance for any extra beads that they can collect. Along with beads, be sure and have lots of little toys and knickknacks bought from a party supply store. Some of these can include flip froggies, rings, and other jewelry and trinkets. Use the knickknacks as centerpiece table decorations. Provide colorful paper Mari Gras-type masks to complete the effect.

Laua Theme

Laua or Hawaiin themes would be an inexpensive theme. Provide leis and tiki lights. Many hardware stores supply tiki lights for summer use. These can be placed outside of the venue. Tropical palm trees will also add to the laua theme. Grass skirts can be provided for guests. Include a hulu demonstration or dance for all to participate in. use pineapples and other laua food to add to decorations. Some chefs and caterers can carve pineapples and watermelons into shapes to be used as decorations.
Oscar Theme

Provide lots of glitz and glimmer for your inexpensive Oscar theme party. Buy a red carpet for the entrance to the venue. Purchase the carpet at a wedding supply or party store. Ask local movie stores if they have extra movie posters that perhaps they can give or sell for a cheap price. Post these near the entrance and on the walls of the venue. Pictures of stars can be copied from online public domain picture sites and enlarged to be placed on walls. Decorate tables with faux trophies and sprinkle star glitter on tables. Provide cameras everywhere to simulate the star experience.
