Its website says that the department aims to "secure the nation from the many threats we face." DHS deals with issues of counter-terrorism, immigration, border security, response and recovery to natural disasters and cyber-security. Since the department's introduction, several writers, scholars and professionals have begun to write about policy and strategy.
