The pen is man's best friend in everyday situations.

Whether writing a list, filling out forms or jotting down impromptu phone numbers, writing is a part of a man's everyday life. Even the advances of information technology can't downplay the importance of pens in casual and business settings. With that said, there are several writing instruments on the market designed specifically for the needs of men in everyday situations. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Bullet Pen

    • Contained within a rugged H&H .375 magnum shell, the bullet pen lives up to its name quite literally. The pen lifts out of the shell and places back into the cap for a sturdy writing instrument designed for all sorts of rough writing tasks. The ink cartridge -- designed for use in outer space -- writes at all angles, underwater and even upside down. Furthermore, the thixotropic ink lasts three times longer than normal ink, and can even withstand extreme temperatures and write on grease and oil.

    Wallet Pen

    • If you don't carry a pen because it is simply an inconvenience, than perhaps the wallet pen would be more suited to you. Smaller than a credit card, the wallet pen fits into the folds of your wallet so it is always within an arm's reach so long as you are carrying your wallet. The wallet pen is handmade in Vermont from sterling silver and features a mini ballpoint cartridge with one refill.

    Scroll Pen

    • Carrying both paper and pen at all times is too much to ask of anyone. The scroll pen, however, maintains both items using an easy-flow ballpoint tip and a barrel holstering a roll of paper. The paper can be torn off and written on, or separated from the pen top for ease of writing. When finished, simply put the top on the pen and scroll the paper back into the cap for journal-like use.

    Gravity Pen Stand

    • The gravity pen stand is an innovative approach to productivity and style. The clock on the pen stand tells the time, temperature and date and doubles as an alarm or timer for writing sessions. Different LED background colors differentiate between the multiple functions of the pen stand. Earning the "gravity" part of its name, this pen stand uses magnets for holding the pen in place even when the stand is upside down.

Waterman Expert II Black Lacquer Fountain Pen

    • Every man should have at least one fountain pen. Fountain pens are comfortable, legible and classy without being gaudy. Easier on the hand than regular pens, the Waterman Expert writes with a light pressure much less tiring than standard ballpoints or pencils. Its exterior is marked by a black lacquer finish with 23.3 karat gold trim and a medium point. At $80, it's a tad pricey for a pen, however, the lifespan of fountain pens tend to run upwards of 20 years as opposed to a few months with a cheap ballpoint.
