High School Graduation Decoration Ideas
High school graduation is an important milestone in the life of a student. In addition to the graduation ceremony, many families throw their graduating student a party to celebrate this special occasion. Whether it's a graduation ceremony or the party afterward, decorations help create a celebratory atmosphere and make a high school graduation a memorable event.

Banner
-
Banners help make a grand statement for all who are attending the graduation to see. At the graduation, a sign such as, "Congratulations Graduating Seniors of Maple Street High School" or "Auburn High School, Class of 2011" announces the graduation while adding a decorative touch to the festivities. After, families can create banners for their own graduates. Personalized banners, such as "Congratulations Anna" provide a graduate with her very own message. Run the banner along the length of a table or post it up in the air between two poles for a dramatic presentation.
School Colors
-
School colors are an easy way to show school spirit at a graduation. At both the ceremony and parties afterward, integrate the school colors into decorations by selecting decor in those shades. For a school that has blue and white for school colors, decorate the space with blue and white streamers and blue and white balloons. Table cloths, seat covers and banners can also embrace the color scheme. Other touches, such as confetti or floral arrangements, can also show off some school pride with school colors.

Diplomas
-
Diplomas are the most important symbol of graduation: they provide proof of the graduate's achievement. It makes sense, then, that diplomas are an appropriate decoration for a graduation. For a grand entrance to the graduation party, construct two large diplomas by cutting large pieces of cardboard into columnar shaped slabs. Paint the cardboard cutouts white, and for a final touch, tie a large ribbon around their center. Prop the cardboard diplomas up on either side of the door to let people know where the party is in a fun way.
Graduate Memorabilia
-
Graduations are not just a celebration for finishing high school; they also provide a chance to reflect on the graduate's life and revel in the journey he's taken and the person he's become. Decorating a graduation or graduation party with pictures of the graduate as a baby or young child allow guests to reminisce about the past and see how much the graduate has grown. At a graduation party, parents can hang a series of school portraits, one from each year, to show year by year how their graduate has changed.
