ESP, or extrasensory perception, is a theoretical mental ability independent of the five senses (sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing). The theory holds that people with ESP can use their minds, instead of the five senses, to gain information, manipulate people and objects or even predict the future. Those who possess ESP are known to be psychics.

Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance is the ability to see what cannot normally be seen with the five senses. Also known as remote viewing, this ability lets psychics see events that would normally be unknown, as well as objects and people in remote locations. For example, a psychic who is clairvoyant could find a specific person miles away or even a specific object previously unknown to the psychic.
Precognition

Precognition is the ability to predict an event before it occurs. One of the more famous psychics with this ability is Nostradamus, who some credit with predicting many events, including the rise of Nazi Germany and the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001. Psychics with precognition must enter a trance state to use this ability effectively.

Telepathy is the ability to communicate with another person without speaking. Also known as mind reading, telepathy enables people both to communicate with their mind separate from the five senses and to implant ideas and commands into a person's mind. A fictional example of a telepath is Professor Charles Xavier from the popular comic book X-Men.
Telekinesis

Telekinesis is the ability to move and manipulate objects without actually touching them. This ability was made famous by Uri Geller and his seeming ability to bend spoons. Telekinesis requires deep concentration in order to move or manipulate objects.

Mediumship is the ability to communicate directly with spirits, either through the mind or through tarot card readings. Mediumship is not just the communication with spirits, but also a channel for which spirits can communicate with the living world. The most common way of using mediumship is through a seance. This ability may also allow the psychic to have an out-of-body experience in the astral plain.
Psychometry

Psychometry is the ESP ability to ascertain information about a person or a place by touching an object. For this power to work, the object must have been with that person or in that location at some point in its history. For example, if a psychic touches an historical item, he can instantly see the object's complete history, including the places it's been and the people who have touched it.
