How to Update DNS in GoDaddy
Domain Name Servers (DNS) tell browsers where to find a particular website. If GoDaddy registers a domain name, it will also ask the registrant to give the names of at least two domain name servers. The browser gets the correct IP address of the domain from the domain name servers, then proceeds to the website. If you change the location of your website, you must update the DNS.

Register Your Domain
-
To operate a website people can find easily, you must have a domain name. One of the largest registrars is GoDaddy. Navigate to its website and point to "Domains" near the top left of the home page. Click on "Domain Registration" and type in the name of the domain you want to register. If your domain is available, follow the instructions to register the domain and open an account with a user name and a password.
Find a Host
-
A domain name is like a business name. To actually operate, however, you need a location. Many hosting companies are available, so find one that will give you the space you want, enough bandwidth for your prospective visitors, and features such as email and e-commerce. Basic hosting for a start-up should be less than $10 per month. You'll be able to change hosts later if necessary, once you have a better idea of how your website will run.

Get Your DNS Information
-
Your website is located on a server and its location is given by an IP address. Your website host operates the website server and also has at least one main and one or more backup domain name servers. These servers have their own names and IP addresses. Check your website information, your host's support pages and its help system to find your DNS information.
Update Your GoDaddy DNS
-
When you first register your domain, GoDaddy will enter its default DNS for the domain registration. Now that you have the DNS information for your own website, you must update the GoDaddy registration. Log in to your account with the user name and password. Point to "My Account" at the top right and click on "My Products." Click on your domain. Click on "Set Nameservers." Fill in your nameserver addresses and click the button which says, "I have specific nameservers for my domains." Your domain will be active within 24 hours.
