Ideas for a Military Groom Cake

Choose a groom's cake which represents the groom's military interests.

If the wedding party includes a military groom, he may desire the groom's cake to reflect his military interests. The groom's cake can be shaped in the form of any military paraphernalia or topped with an edible seal representing his branch of service. The groom might like a cake to sport a military uniform or a simple white cake draped in patriotic colors.

Military Vehicle, Weapon or Medal

Choose a cake shaped like a military tank or other military vehicle.

Choose a cake shaped like a military tank. Use a sheet cake and mount the tank as a second layer on top of the sheet layer or the tank can serve as the entire cake. If the groom does not desire a tank, use a helicopter, Hummer or other military vehicle. The groom may desire a cake shaped like a military weapon or he may prefer a cake in the shape of a military medal.

Photo or Military Seal

Use an edible photograph or a military seal as the top sheet of the cake.

With the proper equipment, cakes may be topped with an edible photograph. Take a photo of the wedding couple in a military environment and have it mounted as a sheet on top of the cake. Or, use a photo of a military vehicle or other military paraphernalia. Branches of military service typically have their own seal. Use the seal associated with the groom's branch of service as the top sheet of the cake.

Patriotic Colors

Ice the cake with patriotic colors or decorate the top of the cake to look like a flag.

Decorate the groom's cake with patriotic colors. If a white cake is desired, ice the cake with white icing and trim the cake in red, white and blue. Make the top of a rectangular sheet cake look like a flag. If a chocolate cake is desired, use a patriotic table cloth and keep the cake simple. Top it with a star or flag in the form of icing or a plastic removable topper.

Military Uniform

Shape the groom's cake like a military uniform.

Use a cake shaped like a military uniform. Each branch of service has an everyday uniform which is usually the camouflage uniform. Military personnel wear a dress uniform at least one day per week and then another uniform for special occasions such as a wedding, funeral or speaking engagement. Choose the uniform the groom likes the best and decorate the cake to follow uniform regulations as closely as possible.

Traditional Toppers

Use traditional toppers to decorate the groom's cake. Top a white or chocolate cake with plastic removable objects such as a bride and groom, with the groom wearing the military uniform. Create a battle scene on the top of the cake using plastic military vehicles and battle gear. Use a set of small plastic swords to create a crossed sword display on top of the groom's cake.
