Social studies, the study of human aspects and interactions, encompasses many disciplines including sociology, security, history and political science. All fields of social studies have a similar core curriculum, which includes courses in math and statistics that can help in formulating questionnaires and evaluating data. Social science degree programs focusing on security issues typically include studies in foreign relations, criminal justice and issues like terrorism or bio-terrorism.
