Gross Halloween Activities for Kids

Gross Halloween Activities for Kids thumbnail
Halloween is a time to be something you've dreamed of and do something scary.

When we think of Halloween, we think of ghosts, goblins and gross things. Kids typically like to do gross things and get their hands dirty. For a Halloween party plan a few gross activities for the kids to do. They will definitely get their hands dirty and maybe their faces too, so have plenty of towels and washcloths handy for cleanup. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Worm Bobbing

    • For this activity make sure there are plenty of wet cloths and napkins. You will need bowls, whipped cream and gummy worms. Fill the bowls with whipped cream and place six gummy worms in the whipped cream. Push the worms down so they aren't just sitting on the top. Put these together the night before the party and then place them in the refrigerator overnight. Have the kids sit down at a table and place the bowl of whipped cream in front of them. When you say go, have the kids put their hands behind their backs and get as many worms out of the whipped cream as they can in five minutes.

    Traggic Sam

    • To do this activity you will need cooked spaghetti, a peeled tomato, peeled grapes, popcorn kernels, baby carrots, spam, pens, paper and bags. Place each of the food items in a separate bag. Dim the lights, blindfold your guests and give them each a pen and a piece of paper. You are going to create a story for about how tragic Sam died and the kids are going to help CSI identify the body parts that were found. The bag with the spaghetti is supposed to be Sam's brain, the peeled tomato is his heart, peeled grapes are his eyes, popcorn kernels are his teeth, baby carrots are his fingers and the slice of spam cut in a weird shape is his liver. In between each bag passing have them write down on the paper what they thought it was. The kid with the most correct guesses wins.

    Alphabet Soup

    • You can do this activity as teams or individual kids. Place a bowl of alphabet soup in front of each team or kid. They will have to dig through the soup with their hands to find letters to form words that are three to five letters long. After five minutes, whoever has made the most words wins. For older kids, make it more complicated and have them spell specific words.

    Slime Pit Relay Race

    • This is more of an outdoor game considering how messy it will get. You will need to make slime before the party. Items you need for this activity include cornstarch, water, food coloring, bowls and buckets. Split the group into teams, up to four teams. To make the slime, mix one part water to four parts cornstarch. Roll around the mixture in the bucket with your hands until it comes out like liquid, but is thick. Add food coloring to make it different colors. Have the team members line up behind their bucket. Each team member will put slime in their hands and run down to the bowl and put as much as they can in it. The goal is to fill the bowl; first team to fill it wins.
