Part of running a successful business is appreciating your customers or clientele. By giving them a gift or showing a token of gratitude, the customers will recognize that you realize how important they are to your success as a business or brand. Showing appreciation can help build brand loyalty so that the customers return because they feel they have gotten something in return for purchasing your product or service.

  1. Apparel

    • Giving your customer a piece of apparel will not only show your appreciation, but will also help you advertise your business. Have T-shirts, sweatshirts or caps printed with the name of your business and logo in a prominent place. You can also add your company slogan on the item. Then when the customers make a purchase, surprise them with the piece of apparel. When the customer wears the apparel in public, you get free advertising.

    Gift Cards

    • Gift cards are a way to show appreciation by treating the customer to food or beverages at restaurants. You can adjust the amount of the gift card according to the purchases of the customer. For example, if someone placed a large order with you which in turn paid you a high commission, you might buy the person a gift card to a fine dining restaurant for a night on the town. If the commission is smaller, you might treat the person to a $5 gift card to a coffee shop.

    Business Card Drawing

    • Place a fishbowl at the front of your business and encourage patrons to place their business card in the bowl every time they come in the store. Then at the end of each month, draw one business card from the fishbowl and reward that person with a prize. For example, if you operate a restaurant, you might offer a free lunch service for up to 25 people for the winning business card. You can even enhance this drawing by offering an even bigger prize for one winner from the 12 monthly winners at the end of the year.

    Open House

    • Hold an open house and invite all of your customers and clients. Provide food and beverages as a show of appreciation. For example, you might put out several cheese plates and offer wine poured from a local vineyard. Then during the open house you can chat with your customers and demonstrate or inform them about your new products and services. They will walk away from the open house well fed and with new information about what your business has to offer.
