"Naruto" is an anime series about a young ninja who's determined to prove himself. The series spans hundreds of episodes, and the cast of characters is proportionally epic. The main three characters are Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto himself. Although game designers have published two "Naruto" dating games, these are purely Flash-based fan titles. They give gamers a chance to play match-maker and see how various romances play out.

The "Naruto Dating Game" lets gamers play a day in the life of Naruto. Over the course of the day, he'll encounter 12 female characters from the series, including Sakura, Hinata and Ino. If he responds to these encounters well, he'll score a date with each of them. Along the way, he'll also have hostile encounters with male rivals. During these encounters, he can punch, kick and defend. If he loses, then the game ends and he has to start over. Although "Naruto Dating Game" is primarily text-based, it also features animated graphics directly from the television series.

Despite its title, "Naruto Dating Sim" actually casts player as Sakura, the lead female character. Her goal is to date one of three male potentials: the somber Sasuke, the determined Rock Lee or the carefree Naruto. In order to impress them, she'll need to develop her skills as both a ninja and a conversationalist. The bulk of the game consists of training Sakura and going to work. By visiting their favorite training spots, she can also meet with her potential lovers. Depending on how she responds to their conversation, they might fall in love with her, leading to a romantic kiss. The game features four endings, depending on which (if any) character she falls in love with.

In order to choose the right responses to conversations and events, players need to understand the personalities from the "Naruto" series. The main male characters that appear in these games are Sasuke, Rock Lee and Naruto. Sasuke is the most talented ninja in his class. Many of his classmates have a crush on him, but he hasn't reciprocated their feelings. He's more interested in training than romance. This is fueled by his desire to defeat his older brother, who killed the rest of their family. Rock Lee is also a determined ninja, but unlike Sasuke, he is not naturally talented. He's had to push himself harder than any other ninja to become who he is. In his mind, who owes all of this to his mentor, Gai. Finally, Naruto has long been the outcast of his class, due to both his incompetence and his fiery disposition. Only with the help of his friends Sasuke and Sakura has he begun to grow and show true potential.
Major Female Characters

Sakura is the only female character to rival Naruto and Sasuke in importance. She's the most level-headed of her companions, and despite her evident modesty and maturity, she has a proud and bitter inner life. Ino was once her best friend, and the two are similar in almost every respect. They were driven apart by a mutual crush on Sasuke, and their rivalry has led to persistent squabbling. Hinata is a shy girl with a long-standing crush on Naruto, whom she identifies with. Not many words make it through her stutters, but if Naruto shows even a little interest, he's sure to score a date.
