Bottle Cap Jewelry Ideas
Bottle caps can be blank slates for a variety of jewelry design projects. Cover the tops of the bottle caps with photos, decorative paper or fabric to create personalized elements for necklaces, bracelets, earrings and anklets. Make custom pendants and charms to hang on cording or chain link jewelry using resin and a variety of miniature items such as photos, pressed flowers, seed beads and buttons.

Necklaces
-
Create bottle cap pendants for necklaces using resin, glue and your choice of embellishment. The depression inside the bottle cap combined with the scalloped edge around the perimeter make a decorative frame for jewelry designs. Cut a photo to size, coat the image with clear craft glue to protect the ink, let the glue dry and then glue the photo inside the bottle cap. Fill the bottle cap with resin to just beneath the rim to create a pendant. Drill a small hole through the top of the bottle cap pendant and use a jump ring to hang it on a necklace cord or chain.
Bracelets
-
Surround your wrist with a bottle cap bracelet filled with a variety of bottle cap designs. Decoupage the flat top of the bottle caps with decorative paper or photos to make a distinctive bracelet design. Decoupage glue, available at craft and hobby stores, is clear glue that adds a protective sheen to paper and thin fabric elements. Cover the back of the bottle caps with felt to prevent chaffing your skin. Fill other bottle caps with pressed flowers, decorative buttons, small trinkets and resin to create individualized charms. Make a bottle cap bracelet by drilling one small hole on each side of the each bottle cap and use jump rings to connect them in a row, side-by-side. You could also make a bottle cap charm bracelet with bottle cap charms dangling from a chain link bracelet, similar to a necklace pendant.

Earrings
-
Make bottle cap earrings with bottle cap resin charms, decorated bottle cap tops or a combination of the two. Create bottle cap earring designs by joining two or three bottle caps in a row using a jump ring at the top, like making a pendant. Hang the top bottle cap onto an earring finding, such as an ear wire. Another way to construct bottle cap earrings with less dangle is to drill a small hole at the top and bottom of the bottle cap, then thread the holes over a head pin. You can separate individual bottle caps using beads or stack them, one on top of the other.
Anklets
-
Make a bottle cap anklet using the same side-by-side jump ring technique used to make a bottle cap bracelet. Elastic cording offers an alternative method for making bottle cap bracelets or anklets. Thread elastic beading cord through side drilled holes on the bottle caps. This method works best if you use the top sides of the bottle caps in the jewelry design. The elastic runs through the backside of the bottle cap, which lies against your ankle or wrist, unseen. This method of making bottle cap jewelry does not require a clasp.
