Blue Plastic Clam Shell Crafts
Plastic clam shells are the to-go boxes often found at delis or used at take-away salad bars. If you have some blue plastic clam shells lying around, consider turning the items into charming crafts. Utilize craft techniques like acrylic painting and decoupage to turn something that might have been trash into something decorative and useful.

Jewelry Box

Turn a blue plastic clam shell into a jewelry box for your vanity. Decorate the outside of the box with tissue paper in pastel colors by gluing the paper to the box like decoupage. Layer some extra tissue paper inside the clam shell and nestle your jewelry inside, placing the finished piece on your vanity.
Treasure Chest

Construct a treasure chest from a clam shell to use at a pirate-themed birthday party. Paint the outside of the clam shell with brown acrylic paint, and paint on an old fashioned looking lock with yellow paint. Fill the clam shell with candy and small toys, then bury it in the backyard for kids to find using a treasure map you have made.

You can use the different parts of the clam shell as home organizers in drawers for the kitchen or bathroom. Cut the two sides apart with scissors and place them inside drawers. Fill the inside of the clam shell pieces with pencils, schools supplies, cotton balls or makeup products.
Bowl

Use the top part of a plastic clam shell to make a unique bowl. Cut the two parts of the clam shell apart and discard the bottom. Cover the outside of the remaining piece with glue. Apply torn pieces of paper, such as craft paper, tissue paper or wrapping paper, to the outside. When the clam shell half is entirely covered in paper, apply another layer of glue over the top. Repeat this process on the inside of the shell, so both the inside and outside surfaces are covered. This bowl is meant to be decorative, and should not be used to eat or serve food.
