Make an elaborate three-dimensional drum set cake for a "Camp Rock" party. Prepare a two-layer round 10-inch cake and two two-layer round 8-inch cakes.
Cut off a small section along the side of the 10-inch cake and stand it upright near the front of a large rectangular cake tray. Cover the front and back of the cake with white buttercream icing and the sides with pink buttercream icing. Outline the front and back of the cake with purple icing, and make purple stripes with the icing to make the cake look like a drum.
Place the 8-inch cakes on cake trays and decorate them in the same manner as the 10-inch cake. Elevate the two 8-inch cakes on pedestals and place the pedestals on the cake tray behind the 10-inch cake to complete the drum set.

Party planners can make a cake in the shape of a guitar for a "Camp Rock"-themed party. Novice cake decorators can make the cake easily in a guitar-shaped pan and decorate it to look like a real guitar.
Cover the cake in a sheet of fondant for a smooth finish, then cover the inner body of the cake with a smooth buttercream icing in a different color. Use white or black buttercream icing and a pastry bag with a round icing tip to make the guitar strings and mold pieces of black fondant to make the tuning pegs on the side of the headstock.

Place the round cake above the rectangular cake on a cake tray and cover both in a thin layer of buttercream icing. For a regular microphone, cover the rectangle with a sheet of black fondant and the circle cake in a sheet of white fondant. Paint the white fondant with silver luster dust for a metallic finish.
Instead of a single cake, make microphone cupcakes for an easy-to-serve treat. Bake a batch of cupcakes, then cover the tops of ice cream cones with icing. Place the cupcakes onto the ice cream cones and cover the cupcakes with a smooth layer of buttercream icing. Decorate the edge where the cone and cupcake meet with colorful candy-coated chocolates.
