What Papers Do I Take With Me When I Go to Traffic Court?
Have you received a traffic ticket and have to attend traffic court? Traffic court can be a tiring and lengthy process, however you can be prepared ahead of time by having all the required paperwork. Before entering traffic court, you must remove all hats and sunglasses and all cell phones should be turned off. If you choose to postpone your court date, you will have to request a continuance with the traffic court clerk.

Personal Information

Before entering traffic court, you should already have your required paperwork conveniently in hand. Information such as the cited ticket and your driver's license are required. If you plan on using an expired license, you will be prompted to get a new driver's license made before you can pay the ticket.
Payment

If you've received anything other than a "fix it" ticket, you will have to pay the amount of money presented on ticket. Bring the correct amount of money in the form of cash or money order as some courts may not accept credit card or personal checks.

Correction Tickets

If you have a "fix it" ticket, you must have a police officer sign the ticket stating that you made the necessary repairs and corrections.
Vehicle Information

Proof of insurance must be presented for the vehicle involved when attending traffic court. Other vehicle paperwork such as current registration and a smog certificate may be required when paying your ticket.
