The 1980s saw the rise of the video game industry, with arcades and home consoles such as Nintendo and Sega. Create a cake using characters from some of your favorite games, such as "Pac-Man," "Zelda" or "Duck Hunt." Or if you'd like to convey your love for Nintendo, create a cake in the shape of the original Nintendo Entertainment System's controllers -- the ones with the two red buttons. These games are '80s icons, and will instantly convey that theme to your party.

Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms, Cabbage Patch Kids and Strawberry Shortcake were the most sought-after toys at Christmas during the decade. If you need a cake to accommodate a large group of people, create a cabbage patch, complete with a couple of dolls set within.
