Use meditation techniques to visualize a thinner you. Pick a quiet, comfortable spot where you can meditate for about 15 minutes twice per day. Return to the same spot each time you meditate. Close your eyes and picture yourself in a peaceful location, such as a beach or cozy log cabin. Breathe deeply and allow all your muscles to relax. Picture yourself wearing skin-tight clothes. You feel peaceful and happy. Your body looks beautifully toned and slim. Picture yourself eating small portions of healthy, lean food. Tell yourself you love healthy foods and exercising.

      Stop Negative Thoughts

      • Catch yourself whenever you think a negative thought, such as "I'll never become thin." Whenever you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, stop it and either replace it with its positive counterpart, such as "I will become thin," or, if that is too hard, just think about something totally different. For example, when you catch yourself thinking, "I can never stick to an exercise plan," think, "I wonder if there's a shoe sale at the mall."

      Keep a Journal

      • Keep a journal to write down positive thoughts about your weight loss and track your habits. You might want to keep a food log in which you keep track of your caloric intake, or monitor your weight and measurements.
