W580i Features

The Sony Ericsson W580i is a slider-style cell phone with a keyboard hidden under the main display screen. Sony released the W580i in the summer of 2007 for European, Asian and African wireless users. The phone connects to GSM bands across these continents and requires a SIM card to make calls. The W580i is available in gray, white and pink with orange or red keys.

    • The W580i features an LCD screen that measures 2 inches diagonally. All images are displayed at a resolution of 240 pixels by 320 pixels and the screen uses TFT technology. The W580i has 18-bit color that allows for up to 262,000 colors to be shown. The phone's lithium polymer battery has a capacity of 930 mAh, or milliamp hours. Milliamp hours are used to describe how long a battery can last. The W580i battery lasts nine hours of usage and 15 days of standby time.

    • The W580i connects to the Class 10 Edge network at speeds up to 236.8 kilobytes per second. The phone uses a WAP 2.0 Web browser that supports RSS feeds. The W580i features 12 megabytes internal memory, but you can store up to 4 gigabytes of data with a Micro Stick Memory card. The phone book contains room for 1,000 contact entries and allows you to enter multiple phone numbers for each. The last 30 dialed, missed and received calls also are stored.

    Organization

    • The W580i's organizational calendar allows you to input important dates, meetings or appointments. You also can set a reminder to go off prior to these dates approaching. A basic calculator performs addition, subtraction, division or multiplication. An alarm clock and stopwatch also come as part of the phone's features. The pedometer feature measures how far you walk in a given time period and calculates the amount of calories you've burned.

    Media

    • The W580i includes a 2.0 megapixel camera with four different levels of digital zoom, and a video recorder. All photos taken are at a resolution of 1,600 pixels by 1,200 pixels. The phone also has a Walkman 2.0 media player that lets you store songs, listen to them and make playlists. The media player recognizes songs as they are stored in the phone. The W580i also has an FM radio that will pick up your local stations.
