Corner Window Draperies Treatment
Finding the appropriate window treatments for corner windows can be a bit of a task. You cannot simply ignore the windows, especially in rooms that need privacy. Some corner windows allow you to hang regular draperies as long as the rods fit into the corner. Other times a new approach is needed all together. Does this Spark an idea?

Panel Drapes
-
Hang panel drapes in your corner windows. Keep the fabric full so that when the drapes are closed they bump up against each other to prevent gaps. Use two drapery panels and when open them push the drapes in the same directions or in opposite directions as you would arrange drapes at a standard window. Four panels will also work. Push the outside panels out when open and push the inside panels to meet at the corner. Make sure that the curtain rods have plenty of space at the corner so that they do not interfere with each other. You want at least 1 inch of space between the ends of the rods.
Swing Out Drapes
-
Curtain rods attached to the wall only at one end allows them to swing out when you want to let light into the room or open the windows. When hanging drapes using this type of rod, make sure to install the rods at the outer portion of each window. This allows the drapes to swing out and away from each other instead of overlapping one another.

Corner Window Valance
-
Adding a valance to regular panel drapes ties the two windows together. This can add dimension to the look of the room. When making or purchasing a valance, buy a coordinating fabric instead of one that matches the panel drapes exactly. If the panel drapes are a plain fabric, hang a striped or plaid valance. Use the same type of fabric for both parts of the window treatment, such linens or decorator fabrics. Fabric stores usually place coordinating fabrics together to help you choose.
Decorative Rods
-
Making or buying drapes that hang on decorative rods with grommets, instead of the traditional rod-pocket casing or drapery hooks, allows the beauty of the curtain rod to be visible. Choose from a variety of decorative rods with finials on the ends to dress up a corner window.
