Colors That Match Well With Brown
Generally, when people think of color they do not immediately think of brown. However, brown is a very common color and it is found everywhere. Wood comes in many shades of brown, as does leather. Carpet and walls are often a shade of brown, and some clothing styles incorporate brown. Shades of brown range from almost black to a brownish off-white, and many other colors go well with this earthy color. Does this Spark an idea?

Reds and Oranges

Off-white with a brown tone accents red. Bright, saturated reds and oranges make subtle accents for dark brown, or espresso. A wall painted espresso is complemented by an orange picture frame or a red vase set on a nearby table. Off-white is can be a shade of brown and is an excellent accent when decorating with dark reds, such as a dark red bedspread with off-white pillowcases and sheets.
Blues and Greens

Aqua goes well with dark brown. Aqua complements chocolate, a shade of dark brown. An aqua print on a chocolate-colored dress is one example. Kelly green is a perfect accent for chestnut, another shade of dark brown. An example for this color scheme is an entryway painted in kelly green with chestnut-colored wooden floors, doors and trim.

Deep purple looks wonderful with terracotta brown. A deep purple, such as eggplant, looks wonderful when placed next to a terracotta-colored brown. Dresses with prints including this color combination can be sexy and festive. Pale yellow is a dramatic contrast to an almost black shade of brown. An almost black-colored leather couch with pale yellow accent pillows and decor creates a sophisticated, modern look.

Caramel-colored wood with black wrought iron is a fine combination. Black wrought iron is a match for caramel-colored wood stain. This look can be achieved with benches made of wood and wrought iron. White goes well with tan in an unexpected, yet attractive, way. Tan leather sandals with a white, long, flowing skirt look refreshing and carefree.

The monochromatic brown look is chic. Many shades of brown go with other shades of brown. Early 21st century fashion and interior decorating incorporate this monochromatic look. Chocolate can be paired with chocolate, such as the case with a chocolate chair in front of a chocolate-colored wall. A caramel-colored brown can be combined with chocolate, as the case of a caramel wooden floor with a chocolate-colored chair.
