Liquid Frosting
-
Dry fondant can be used to make a glaze for a cake. When making a glaze, more liquid is added making the consistency slightly runny. The typical ingredients added to dry fondant for icings are melted butter, water or milk. Flavoring can also be added such as vanilla, cherry or almond.
Rolled Frosting
-
Dry fondant is mixed to a thick consistency for rolled frosting. The frosting is made, rolled out and draped over a cake. Rolled fondant frosting gives wedding cakes a flawless appearance because the frosting is rolled out first and then applied to the cake. By doing it this way, crumbs from the cake never get into the frosting. This gives the cake such a smooth appearance. One common type of rolled fondant frosting used is marshmallow flavor. It is made using the same ingredients as regular fondant icing, except that marshmallows are added.

Decorations
-
Dry fondant is used to make cake decorations, such as fondant roses. These decorations are made by mixing dry fondant into a rolled fondant icing. When rolled thinly, fondant roses look very realistic and last longer than roses made of regular icing because of their consistency. To make decorations for cake, decoration molds or cutters are required.
Candies
-
When making homemade candies, dry fondant is one of the primary ingredients used by many candy makers. It is used to make chocolate buttercream candies, pecan logs and chocolate covered cherries. It is also used as a base when making truffles and many other types of homemade candies.
