Invitations

Young children love creating and giving out invitations to their parties. Thomas the Tank Engine invitations can be created in several ways. Have a large picture of Thomas on the front of the card and a saying, such as "Join Thomas and (your child's name)" for a birthday celebration. Make the invitations as large tickets or boarding passes to hop aboard the train, with the birthday time and date as well as "now boarding" written on the back.

A large poster can be placed on the door saying, "Train Station," and music from the show can be played softly in the background. Tape large, long pieces of brown paper to the floor to simulate train tracks.

A large round cake can be covered in grey icing and edible pens used to draw Thomas' features, such as the smile, nose and eyes. You can make a whole train with cake covered in buttercream and blue fondant. Add other rolled out pieces of fondant to complete the cake. Give out the favors at the end of the party; place whistles, coloring books and Thomas keychains in a small conductor's hat.

There are numerous Thomas theme games and activities for children to play. Provide a variety of boxes, construction paper, tape, non-toxic washable paints and have the kids create their own Thomas tank engines. Stand nearby in order to cut windows or any other items that require scissors. Pin the pipe on Thomas is a fun group activity. Blindfold one of the children and spin him around once or twice. Have him try and place Thomas' black steam pipe in the correct place on his head. Continue the game until all the children have had a turn.
