Ideas for Homemade Greeting Cards With Birthday Verses for a Family
A homemade card can be so much more meaningful than one you buy last-minute at the drugstore. Creating a homemade card for a family member's birthday takes time and care, but the pride you will take in the finished product -- and knowing that the recipient will treasure the gift -- make it well worth the effort.

Birthday Card with Poem
-
Include a poem inside your homemade birthday card. The poem may be one that holds personal meaning for you or the recipient, or it might be one that speaks to some aspect of the recipient's personality. Poems can also be fun and silly: try coming up with variations on the "roses are red, violets are blue" theme.
Birthday Card with Personalized Greetings
-
Have each member of your family sign the blank inside of your card individually. They should be able to express something unique about their own relationship with the recipient. Encourage them to write briefly about a fond memory or a note of praise. Your card will quickly turn into an inexpensive mini-scrapbook that the recipient will treasure.

Birthday Card with Pressed Flowers
-
Give your homemade birthday card a special touch by pasting pressed or dried flowers onto the card stock or paper. Use handmade paper if you can find it; each sheet is unique and has a heavier feel and unusual texture than regular copy paper. If there are wildflowers near where you live, pick a few in a place where they won't be missed and press them in a piece of paper towel inside the largest, heaviest book you can find for 24 hours. Alternatively, hang the flowers upside down in a cool, dry place where they won't be disturbed until they dry and can be glued into the card. Include a traditional birthday verse to complement your card, carrying on the floral theme of growth and blooms.
Birthday Card with Recycled Wrapping Paper
-
Dress up your homemade birthday card to look like a present itself. First, have everyone in the family sign the card with a personalized message. Then use regular card stock or an old manila folder if you don't have any handy. Then, with scraps of wrapping paper, cover the card with the paper to make it look like a gift. Complete the effect with a piece of ribbon that you glue or tape in place.
