There are many charities for women.

There are many respected charities that help women out in numerous ways. While defining a charity as one of the "best" is subjective, there are well-known and long-standing charities for women that are highly regarded. Some focus on women's rights, while others focus on women's health or women with children. Some offer economic help, while others lobby Congress or even seek to help women in far-off nations.

Women's Health

Many charities specifically focus on women's health issues, such as breast cancer, pregnancy or spousal abuse. Some of the most prominent examples of women's health charities are: the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, the Young Survival Coalition and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The National Breast Cancer Fundation is ranked as the fifth best women's charity by the magazine "Marie Claire."

Other charities focus on fighting for more rights for women, such as equal wages in the workplace. Organizations such as the National Organization for Women are involved in a range of women's issues, including abortion rights, lesbian issues, equality of pay and equal representation in government.

In some parts of the world, women lack many basic rights and live very difficult lives. Accordingly, many charities are focused on making life better for women abroad. For example, Women for Women International fights to help women who have survived wars, such as women in Afghanistan. The International Women's Health Coalition also helps to assist women in poor health in foreign lands.
