Basic Elements
-
Master bathrooms -- so designated due to their proximity to the master suite -- almost invariably feature a toilet, sink, and shower stall, as a bare minimum requirement. In addition, many master bathrooms, usually the largest bathroom in a home, often feature double ("his-and-hers") sinks and expanded countertops, as well as jacuzzi or spa bathtubs. Less luxurious versions will often combine the shower stall and bathtub into a standard tub-and-shower combination.
Fixtures
-
Every master bathroom needs a mirror, which is typically hung over the sink, and can vary in size. Also among the most important, non-built-in fixtures in the master bathroom are towel rods, for hanging clean and drying towels. These can take several forms ranging from simple wall-attached bars, usually hung proximate to the sink and shower, to heated drying racks and cabinet-like elements with towel rods affixed. Additionally, master bathrooms with windows usually need blinds, unless the room is very high, faces a secluded area, or is otherwise protected from outside vision. Many people, especially those with limited built-in cabinet space, will also need shelves, racks, or a cabinet in their master bathroom, for storing medicine, linens, toiletries, and the like.

Textiles
-
At bare minimum, master bathrooms need sufficient bath, wash, and hand towels for its users. It is typically recommended that master bathrooms be stocked with two of each per person, to allow for laundering, and a well-stocked master bathroom will have even more. Decorative hand towels are often frequently used by the sink. Master bathrooms also need floor rugs, and those with windows often need, and almost always benefit from, curtains.
Accessories
-
Decorative accents for master bathrooms take a wide variety of forms, but usually follow a specific theme. Minimally, master bathrooms need an accessories set featuring a trash can, soap pump or dish, and toothbrush holder. Other decorative accents often chosen include facial tissue covers, toilet paper dispensers and holders, toilet brushes and shower caddies.
