Shoes That Are Comfortable
Uncomfortable shoes can be painful and cause health problems. Bad posture, corns, ingrown toenails and blisters are all caused or made worse by uncomfortable, poorly fitted shoes. Certain shoe styles are comfortable, while others are uncomfortable and dangerous to the health of your feet. Regardless of style, shoes that fit properly are more likely to be comfortable and less harmful to your feet.

Low or No Heel
-
High-heeled shoes cause the foot to push forward in the shoe, putting pressure on the toes. This can be uncomfortable and lead to blisters, calluses and foot deformities. Low-heeled shoes or shoes with no heel are more comfortable and cause less damage to the foot.
Round or Open Toe
-
Shoes with round or open toes allow toes to take a more comfortable shape. Pointed or square toes force the foot into an unnatural and uncomfortable shape. Over time, this causes hammertoe, bunions and corns.

Skate Shoes
-
Skate shoes are a type of shoe that designers create with skateboarders in mind. These shoes are wide and thickly cushioned on the inside to prevent foot injuries while skateboarding. People who do not skateboard wear skate shoes as well because they are comfortable for wear during everyday activities.
Athletic Shoes
-
There are several different kinds of athletic shoe, all made for comfort during physical activity. There are shoes for basketball players, baseball players, runners, football players, golfers and tennis players. Athletic shoes typically have insoles with contours that fit the anatomy of the foot and prevent foot injuries. These shoes are not only comfortable when playing sports, but they are comfortable for everyday wear.
Sandals
-
Sandals are leisurely shoes that are made to be easy to slip on and off in warm weather. They come in a variety of designs, such as thong, strap, double strap and laceup. Some of these designs are comfortable, while others are more fashion-oriented than comfort-oriented. Thong sandals can cut between the toes if they are made of hard plastic. Fabric thong sandals are more comfortable. Sandals with straps across the foot that are made of hard plastic can cut into the sides of the foot. This style is best when the strap has a little cushion or is made of soft plastic.
Slippers
-
Slippers are shoes for wearing around the house. They are generally fluffy, soft, slip-on and cushioned. Unlike shoes that you would wear in public, fashion is not a factor with slippers. Slippers are all about comfort.
