Camping Birthday Parties
-
If your kids love to camp out under the stars, consider a camping-themed birthday party. Your decorations can simply be a bunch of tents in the backyard, enough to house all the kids. If you need extra tents, ask other parents to bring one. Put a fire pit in the middle so the kids can enjoy s'mores and scary stories. Other decorations can include picnic tables, lawn chairs, lanterns and tiki torches. Put on the invitations that it's a slumber party and for the kids to bring a pillow, sleeping bag and PJ's. For a game idea do a scavenger hunt. Have flashlights handy for the kids and get pancake mix for breakfast.
Briday Shower
-
If the couple would prefer going camping than going to a hotel, do a camping-themed bridal shower. Have this kind of shower outdoors, either in someone's back yard or a park. Use the outdoors as your backdrop for decor. Decorate with lanterns on picnic tables. If weather does not permit, then put a small tent in the dining area and decorate that. Put a picnic table in front of the tent and put the food out on it. If the party is outside, have a bonfire and sing songs. For the menu have hot dogs and hamburgers with macaroni salad. Also have bowls of chips and pretzels at the tables. Encourage guests to give camping-related gifts, so the couple can enjoy their favorite hobby together once they are married.

Kindergarten Camping Theme
-
Use camping to get kids interested in the outdoors. Pitch a tent in the classroom; the kids can take turns sitting in the tent. Give kids flashlights so they can shine them on the ceiling of the tent. Find books full of pictures of different kinds of bugs or plants. Ask the kids what kind of wildlife they would find if they were camping outdoors. As they yell out bug, plant and animal names show pictures of them and talk about each item. Also, use the time to talk about fire safety with the children. While taking about campfires ask then what they would do around a campfire. Then teach them a campfire song.
Camping Science
-
Another way of using the camping theme would be with science. Go to a local park and ask the children to find a variety of leaves that you have on a scavenger hunt list. The list can also be pictures of certain trees. This will help them identify trees while they go camping with their parents. Set molds of animal tracks out on a table. Have the children try to identify which track goes to which animal. Also go over what to do when encountering specific animals like bears and wolves.
