Vegetarians have dozens of quick and easy snacks to choose from.

Vegetarian snacks don't have to take a long time to prepare. Most vegetarian snacks don't even need to be cooked, which saves you a lot of time when you want something quickly. Being a vegetarian doesn't mean that you're left with eating a bunch of greens for the rest of your life. Depending on the kind of vegetarian that you are, you may even eat snacks with animal products such as cheese and eggs. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Mixing Ingredients

    • Instead of chewing on a stick of celery, you can create quick and easy vegetarian snacks by combining different ingredients. You can make a simple salad by mixing some lettuce, tomatoes and chopped walnuts in a bowl. Another snack combines a few tomato slices with slices of mozzarella cheese. Other combinations for simple vegetarian snacks are celery and peanut butter and an apple and cheese. You can also combine some broccoli, asparagus, a little olive oil and lemon juice and cook it in the microwave for about five minutes.

    Choosing Ingredients

    • Some vegetarian foods are easier to prepare than some. For something that's quick and easy, think of all the foods you can eat that you don't have to take too much time peeling, chopping or cooking. You'll find lots of different fruits that you can eat as a snack that don't need to be prepared at all, including apples, plums, pears, peaches, strawberries and grapes. Bags of salad already come ready-to-eat and just need a little salad dressing. You can also buy hummus or tahini and spread it over some pita bread, pop popcorn in the microwave for about two minutes or eat yogurt.

    Savory Snacks

    • Vegetarians can choose from dozens of savory snacks that don't take long to prepare. Some of the savory vegetarian snacks that you can eat are tostada chips with refried beans, a microwavable veggie burger, frozen veggie pizza and your choice of crackers with sliced cheese, cottage cheese or cream cheese. Other quick savory vegetarian snacks are chopped bell peppers, boiled sweet corn, baby carrots and celery with ranch or blue cheese dressing and edamame, soybeans in the pod that takes about five minutes to boil and eat. Cooking a hard-boiled egg to eat as a snack only takes about 10 minutes.

    Sweet Snacks

    • You can also find sweet vegetarian snacks to enjoy. Buy trail mix, which needs no preparation. One pack of instant oatmeal sprinkled with a little sugar or honey only takes 90 seconds to prepare. It's fast and simple to make a peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwich. You can also spread peanut butter on a banana or a bagel. A fruit smoothie from a bottle is a quick snack that can fill you up.
