Ideas for Spiderman Cupcakes

Spiderman is a beloved comic book character and his popularity even extends to food. Spiderman cupcakes are a great addition to a Spiderman-themed party, particularly for little ones that dream of shooting webs out of their wrists as the character does in comic books and movies. There are various decorations you can do to make Spiderman cupcakes look authentic.

Red and Black Webs

  • You can make vanilla or chocolate cupcakes with this particular Spiderman theme. Decorate each cupcake with red icing to serve as the background. Then, place black icing in a plastic bag and cut a very small hole in one corner. Using the bag, make a spider web pattern, similar to the web utilized to represent Spiderman. If you are unsure what the web should look like, reference a Spiderman comic book or movie collateral to get a clear idea.

Spiderman Face Cupcakes

  • Put a face with your theme by putting a Spiderman face right on your cupcakes. Use vanilla or chocolate cupcakes, depending on your preference. Decorate with a background of white icing -- you can use whipped cream or butter cream icing. Then, place a marzipan in the shape of Spiderman's head on top of the cupcake. Pipe black icing onto the marzipan for eyes.

Spiderman Transfer Cupcakes

  • Forget about trying to recreate Spiderman on your own; use a butter cream transfer to put an actual picture of Spiderman on the cupcakes. You can use a coloring page on which to make the transfer and a kit from your local craft store in which to transfer the picture to icing. This provides you with a more authentic picture of Spiderman on your cupcakes.

3-D Spiderman

  • Save yourself the trouble of decorating the cupcake with intricate icing designs and instead do a three-dimensional (3-D) Spiderman cupcake theme. Ice the cupcake with red, black or white icing. Then, use a Spiderman 3-D decal and stick it in the top of the cupcake. This is a more simple way to incorporate a Spiderman theme, particularly if you don't have the skill for complicated icing designs.
