Halloween Photo Backsplash Ideas
Halloween is a magical night, and you want to capture those memories in a special way. Choosing the right background is essential to getting the best pictures. Combine this with what the New York Institute of Photography calls "ghoul lighting" -- spotlights shown from below or the side that create shadows -- and you're sure to reflect the mood. Use them for a backsplash for a spooky or fun party backdrop. Does this Spark an idea?

Autumn Harvest
-
When you don't want to go with something spooky, an autumn harvest theme is a good choice. This is especially true if you have little ones who may be scared by witches or ghosts. Set up hay bales for the subjects to sit on and have pumpkins, hay, scarecrows or corn in the background.
Haunted House
-
When you want something spooky, a haunted house may be the way to go. If you're using a paper or canvas background, draw a haunted house complete with ghosts or gravestones in the front yard. Alternatively, look for a "spooky" house in your neighborhood and use that as the backdrop for your pictures.

Surprise Ghost
-
Since Halloween is all about the fright, you can add a real element of surprise. Place your subjects in front of a neutral background. Once in place, have someone dressed as a ghost -- or a witch, monster or other scary creature -- step in behind them and yell, "Boo." Best of all, you'll get to capture the real look of terror as the subjects turn around to see the "ghost."
Jack-O-Lanterns
-
Jack-o-lanterns can offer eerie "ghoul lighting." Place several different jack-o-lanterns in the background with your subjects in front. You'll need two or three candles inside the jack-o-lanterns to provide sufficient light for creepy and holiday-ready photos to use for your backsplash.
