Consignment store associations can help you find the closest shop to your home.

Consignment stores and resale shops offer consumers the opportunity to purchase used, but good quality, merchandise for less than what they would normally pay in a retail store. To make things easier, resale and consignment store associations make lists of local shops and even offer advice to current or future store owners.

  1. NARTS: The National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops

    • Founded in 1984 in Chicago, NARTS has grown with over 1,200 members (as of 2011) in its guild and services future consignment store owners by providing them with professional development and education. As members of NARTS, store owners are offered meetings held throughout the country each fall and spring. Along with these informational gatherings, members also enjoy the Annual Conference with four days of workshops, learning and mingling among other shop owners.

    Consignment Association of Dallas

    • With a string of furniture and clothing stores in its loop, the Consignment Association of Dallas offers Texan thrifters the opportunity to scope out the local shops with just a click of a button. The association's website lists over a dozen consignment shops in the Dallas metroplex area and offers a map for patrons to find the nearest store.

    S.T.A.R.S.

    • The South Texas Association of Resale Shops (S.T.A.R.S.) has put together a listing of some of the resale and consignment shops in the Greater Houston metro area. Resale stores are listed by location and specialty such as maternity clothing and vintage items. Resale store owners who wish to participate in a S.T.A.R.S. membership receive a bi-monthly newsletter, advertising and networking opportunities and mentoring from fellow resalers.

    Consignment Chic

    • This online community offers its consignment-savvy patrons the opportunity to shop at consignment and resale shops in various states. Consignment Chic has a store finder on its website that allows customers to locate a store or shop online. Customers can also watch video segments to find out about deals in shops and learn about Chic bus tours of consignment stores.
