Christmas Gift Ideas for Boys
Christmas is a time for wide eyes, smiles and excitement. Christmas only comes once a year, making it an ideal time to purchase something special that a boy has wanted, or a surprise item. Consider his interests when trying to find the ideal gift for him this holiday season.

Outside Toys
-
Active toys get your boy playing and roughhousing outdoors, and they can also be stored outside to reduce clutter in the house. A bike, scooter or skateboard will give your child exercise and a mode of transportation. Purchase sports equipment such as a basketball standard and a ball, baseball equipment, a football or other sports equipment to help him get plenty of exercise and sunshine. If Christmas means a snowy wonderland where you live and you'd like to give him athletic equipment he can use now, try a snowboard, skiing pass or sled.
Imagination Activities
-
Stretch your child's imagination with activities using his creative abilities. Art supplies such as an easel, drawing pad, paints, brushes and canvas will stimulate his artistic ability. If your son isn't interested in drawing or painting, give him Play-Doh and a Play-Doh Playset he will enjoy. Older boys may enjoy other hardening or non-hardening modeling clay and sculpting tools. Lego building bricks, Tinker-Toys, Lincoln Logs and K'Nex toys will assist your son in creating an entire city of his own imagining.

Video Games
-
Whether you have a five-year-old or a teenager, your boy is probably interested in video games. The Nintendo Wii, Microsoft X-Box 360 and the PlayStation 3 offer various entertaining games to capture your son's attention. The Xbox Kinect allows your son to play using his body instead of a controller. Games such as Super Mario Galaxy (Wii), LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation 3) and Guitar Hero (Xbox 360) will provide your child with hours of gaming fun. Hand-held consoles like the Nintendo DSi or the PlayStation Go allow gaming anywhere your son happens to be. Little boys might enjoy V-Tech's V-Smile or the Leapfrog Leapster, which provide educational games for young minds.
Technical Gadgets
-
Older boys enjoy high-tech gear such as computers, cameras, MP3 players and other gadgets. Purchase a camera or video camera for your budding photographer and movie-maker. The Kodak Playsport can take high quality photos, record 1080p HD footage and can capture your son's underwater exploits. Your computer whiz may enjoy surfing the internet and playing on the Disney Netpal netbook computer. Purchase an iPod Nano or a Microsoft Zune for your music lover and some new music to go with it.
