Processor and RAM
-
The processor of the Gateway Solo 5150 is of the Intel Pentium II brand. The chip ran at a speed of 233, 266, 300, 333, 366 or 400 megahertz. Additionally, it connected with the laptop's motherboard for data transfer via the front-side bus at a rate of 66 MHz.
The Solo 1450's random-access memory, or RAM, used the first generation of synchronous dynamic random access memory known as DDR SDRAM. Its two small dual in-line memory module (SO-DIMM) slots combined for a total of 16, 32, 64 or 128 megabytes of RAM, although users could expand it up to 288 MB.
Disk Drives
-
The hard disk drive of the Gateway Solo 1450, at the very minimum, provided two gigabytes of data storage space. The optical drive was usually a CD-ROM drive, which only played CDs; another option was a CD/DVD combo that played and recorded on CDs and DVDs. The computer did not come with a floppy drive, although Gateway designed it for accommodating an external 3.5-inch 1.44 MB floppy disk drive or its more advanced version, known as the LS-120 or SuperDisk.
