Ideas for a Bird Wedding Theme
A wedding theme should be one of the first things a bride takes into consideration when beginning wedding plans. Invitations, decorations and the smallest details can all reflect the overall wedding theme chosen. Colors, seasons, destinations and even animals can be selected as a wedding theme. Birds make a sophisticated, romantic wedding theme to plan a wedding around.

Invitations
-
Give your guests a taste of the wedding theme to expect to see on your big day by mailing invitations that are centered on the theme of birds. Select invitations that feature a specific type of birds. For example, lovebirds can be printed on your invitations, along with trees, branches, leaves or other elements of nature in which birds belong. Consider sticking with shades of green, gray, brown or blue, commonly associated with nature or the color of most birds. Owls are another type of bird to consider placing on your invitations with the words, "Who's in love?" or "Guess who's getting married?" For a more modern design, put a chicken's silhouette on your invitation. Purchase or make thank you cards in a similar design.
Decorations
-
Place bird-themed decorations throughout the decor of your wedding ceremony or reception. Bird-related centerpieces can be created by placing bird cages with real or fake birds on tables. Or, assemble tall Eiffel Tower vases filled with tall tree branches with or without blossoms and fake birds attached. A simple wooden birdhouse with floral or candle accents around it can be used as a centerpiece as well. For an outdoor wedding, consider hanging bird cages from tree branches.

Place Cards
-
Create designated seating at your wedding reception with creative bird nest place cards. Place a bird nest made of twigs at each guest's place setting. Fill each nest with fake bird eggs. The eggs can be edible or decorative. A strip of paper with the name of an individual guest should be set inside of the nest on top of the eggs. Kill two birds with one stone and give these nests as favors for guests as well.
Card Box
-
Incorporate your bird theme into the small details of your wedding. Use a metal bird cage as a card box for your guests to place gifts given in the form of a card. Card boxes are typically placed on a gift table near the entrance of a wedding reception. This consolidates all cards into one spot and makes it easier for guests to figure out where to put card gifts. Make sure that your bird cage has a designated opening large enough to fit an envelope to a wedding card.
