Advanced Tile and Grout Cleaning Techniques

To deep clean tile, spray the surface with a solution of tile cleaning product and very hot water, then leave the solution on the tile for at least 15 minutes. After the solution has set, spray down again with cleaning solution and scrub tiles with a plastic brush or scrubbing pad. Rinse tiles thoroughly before cleaning grout. To clean grout, use a cleaning solution formulated for grout and scrub it with a narrow scrubbing brush to loosen dirt before rinsing with hot water. New products with revolving brushes much like electric toothbrushes can get grout very clean. After grout has been scrubbed and rinsed, apply a grout sealing product to keep out future dirt and prevent stains.
Advanced Kitchen Cleaning Techniques
-
One of the main problem areas in a house can be the kitchen because of grease buildup on many kinds of surfaces, including the stove, the counters and the floors. To remove stubborn grease stains on countertops or floors, purchase cleaning products called "degreasers" at a hardware store. These products can cut through grease buildup much easier than common household cleaners. To deep clean kitchen surfaces, spray down with the degreaser product and allow to soak, then scrub with a plastic scrubbing pad or brush. Use very hot water when cleaning grease, as it can help dissolve the stain. You don't need to buy expensive scouring powders to scrub stubborn stains; baking soda is an excellent scouring powder.

Advanced Floor Cleaning Techniques

In general, the dirt and grime that builds up on floors is acidic in nature, so you should use alkaline cleaning products like ammonia or bleach. Advanced cleaning of floors involves first mopping floors with a solution of very hot water and ammonia to loosen dirt. If you have stubborn floor stains, you can use a wide brush to scrub floors. Brushes with plastic bristles are better for deep cleaning floors because they can loosen tough stains without scratching the floor. After loosening stains with a brush, floors should be mopped again with cleaning solution, rinsed with warm water, then allowed to dry.
Advanced Carpet Cleaning Techniques
-
The best advanced cleaning technique for stained carpets is to spray the stain with a cleaning solution, allow the solution penetrate the carpet, scrub with a sponge, blot with a soft towel or cloth, then vacuum when dry. You can make several cleaning solutions for carpets with common household cleaners. For mud or dirt carpet stains, mix a solution of warm water and dish washing liquid. You can remove juice, wine or other food stains with a solution of dish washing liquid and hydrogen peroxide. Grease or oil stains on carpet can be removed with mineral spirits and a thorough rinsing with hot water.
