Christian Outreach Projects
A central focus of the Christian faith involves the act of ministering to those in need. In response to spiritual and physical needs of local and global communities perceived by churches, Christian outreach projects aim to provide services and bring comfort to the lonely and the less fortunate. Such projects include feeding the hungry, treating the sick, performing acts of labor and developing compassionate relationships with men, women and children in need of support.

Servolution

Pastor Dino Rizzo of Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, started the Servolution outreach in the mid-2000s. According to the Servolution website, 500 churches took part in the movement in 2009. Its website offers resources such as a book authored by Rizzo, free outreach ideas and manuals, as well as opportunities for individuals to find involved churches in their area. Projects related to Rizzo's outreach include free car washes, providing food at bus stations, and handing out roses to women employed at strip clubs.
PEACE Plan

Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose Driven Life" and pastor of Saddleback Church in Southern California, initiated a global outreach project. Traveling abroad, Warren says he witnessed spiritual depravity caused by political corruption, poverty, disease and illiteracy, and became inspired to seek a solution. His efforts developed into the PEACE Plan, a global Christian outreach project whose goals include government reconciliation, assistance to the poor and the sick and education programs. The project's website allows churches and individuals to connect, plan events and coordinate projects like supplying clean water in Argentina and Haiti, and the construction of a health center in Rwanda.

Naked Truth

With campuses in central California and Las Vegas, Valley Bible Fellowship sponsors an outreach project that services men and women involved in the pornography industry. The church annually rents a booth called "The Naked Truth" at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Vegas. The outreach hands out free copies of the Bible and other Christian reading material, and offers to pray with employees of the adult entertainment industry and others who attend the convention. The project's website offers follow-up services and free downloads of sermons.
Urban Arts Outreach

Urban Arts Outreach facilitates Saint City Sessions in Santa Ana, California. The Sessions meet twice a month in downtown Santa Ana, with a goal of attracting the culturally diverse community by providing a setting for artists to display their visual art or to perform publicly. Organizers says that they strive to set a biblical example of how to coexist with people from diverse backgrounds, and seek to reconnect the urban community with the church by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of community members. The multi-church organization also provides workshops to teach and empower volunteers, using a venue relevant to the targeted population.
