The first anniversary for a married couple is a special relationship milestone that marks the completion of the first year together. Celebrate the momentous occasion with an intimate, personal celebration to spend time together, reflect on the previous year and welcome the future. Depending on what you and your significant other prefer, opt for a quiet but intimate celebration at home or have a party for family and friends.
Host a party for family and friends to commemorate the successful completion of your first year together. Rent a hall or plan the party outdoors, weather permitting. Decorate the venue in your wedding theme to pay tribute to the special day. Write short speeches for each other, or renew your wedding vows and request your friends to say a few words about the two of you as a couple. Play music from the year you got married, and dance to the song from your wedding reception.
Sweep your sweetheart off her feet with romantic, intimate activities that nurture your relationship and bring the two of you closer together. Transform your bedroom into a spa and take turns massaging each other. Purchase a set of silk lingerie and matching boxers for the two of you to wear during the massage. Dim the lights in the room, and use candles for dappled illumination. Play jazz or instrumental music to create the required ambiance. Or, take a warm bath together in a rose petal-sprinkled Jacuzzi or bathtub. Feed each other strawberries with cream and decadent chocolates during the bath.
Recreate your first date to take a trip down memory lane together and revive special memories. Dine at the same restaurant where you had your first meal, preferably at the same table you sat at back then. Inform the management about your anniversary so the staff complies. Request the management to play music from the year of that first date to create the ambiance. Kiss at the same spot where you shared your first kiss. To make the evening extra special, request your significant other to wear the same dress or something similar to what she did back then.
Prepare your favorite gourmet meal together, and eat in under the stars, weather permitting. Set the table on your balcony or terrace, or spread a sheet on the grass. Purchase the ingredients to the meal beforehand so you cook it together. To make the cookout extra special, only wear undergarments under the aprons. Chop, cook and dice the vegetables and meat, fish or poultry together.
Prepare a scrapbook to preserve important memories from your first year together. Look for memorable photos of the two of you from when you started dating, along with precious memorabilia, such as tickets to your first movie or concert, old greeting cards to one another, dried flowers from a floral arrangement or gift wrap from a previous gift exchange. Paste the items on sheets of plain or colored paper along with a caption under each. Embellish each page with decorative stickers and romantic quotes. Also write personal notes to each other.
