Decorating the Base

To create a distinctive barnyard celebration cake, you will first need to form a solid base. This base will become the "yard" part of your barnyard cake that will eventually support your animal barn and cupcakes. Begin by icing a large square or rectangular sponge cake. You may choose to use either frosting, dyed with green food-coloring, or ready-made roll out sheet icing. Cover the base entirely with the green "grass" icing.
